Meet Käthe Kollwitz at Night

It’s a great idea that’s caught on all over the world, but it was invented in Berlin – the Long Night of Museums. In 1997 just eighteen museums took part, and now, over twenty years on, there are round about eighty opening their doors until way past midnight and inviting you to come in and look, listen, be amazed and join in with the many activities.  This year’s main attractions are the museum staircases, which are being transformed for one night into stages for light, music and dance – or history like our time line of life and art of Käthe Kollwitz. Liebermann, Kollwitz and the Collection of Julius Freund

Tomorrow afternoon the grandson of Julius Freund, Prof Anthony Friend, will guide you through the story of Julius Freund and his wonderful collection of Käthe Kollwitz art. Some sheets of his former collection are on display in our special exhibition ‘Käthe Kollwitz and her friends’. We’re looking forward to your visit.
